- Flexible guest space, not dedicated bedrooms for kids who've moved out. A room that works as a home office most of the year and a guest room during the holidays fits better than two or three under-used bedrooms.

Townhomes get marketed toward young professionals and first-time buyers, but that framing undersells how well they work for downsizers: less exterior maintenance, often single-level or primary-suite-on-the-main-floor layouts, and a smaller footprint without giving up finish quality.
