How to Find the Right Community Amenities
The choice of a new home isn’t just the home itself. The location and its proximity to good schools, local services, and the things that make life more enjoyable play a major part in the decision. Alvarez Construction Company chooses the locations for our new home communities with a critical eye for the surrounding area. If you want to know how to find the right community amenities, start by defining what “right” means to you.
Where school is in session
Parents of children who are school-aged place particular emphasis on the quality of the schools that serve the neighborhood they’re considering. You can check GreatSchools.org to see how the schools have been rated by parents, as well as factoring in standardized test scores, graduation rates, the number of students in advanced placement, student to teacher ratio, and a variety of other factors. It also helps to ask your builder or real estate agent for information and talk to parents whose children attend those schools.
Find the fun at home
Some neighborhoods offer community amenities that enhance the quality of the lifestyle there. Deer Trail at Bedico Creek in Madisonville, LA, for example, gives residents a full menu of recreational and social opportunities within a gated community:
- 2 swimming pools
- More than 20 acres of lakes and water features
- 200 acres of parks
- 375-acre nature preserve
- Fishing pier
- Boat Dock
- Disc golf course
- Covered pavilion that’s used for parties of all kinds
- 3.5 miles of hiking and biking trails
- Boat and RV storage
- Community fire pit
With two phases now available, Deer Trail is just a few minutes from Nord Du Lac Shopping Center, which includes shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues.
Conveniently close to home
Some communities are situated close to amenities, so it’s easy to take advantage of recreation, like nearby parks.
Cella Gardens and The Sanctuary at Juban Crossing—both in Denham Springs—are situated close enough to the Juban Crossing retail center to make it a regular destination. For a wide array of dining, shopping, movies, and events, Juban Crossing is a popular place. Plus, both Cella Gardens and The Sanctuary at Juban Crossing qualify for the USDA’s zero-down payment loan program.
The residents of Grove at Ascension in Prairieville head to nearby Paula Park for its playground and t-ball field. Our families living in Alvarez Construction Company’s other Prairieville community, Ironwood Estates, enjoy the splash park that’s just a short drive away on nearby Highway 42. A variety of salons, restaurants, shops, and fitness centers are also in the same area—from the national names like Walmart and Gold’s Gym to locally-owned businesses.
A family-owned business for two generations, Alvarez Construction Company currently has homesites to build on at communities in and around Baton Rouge, as well as move-in ready homes—brand new and fully warrantied.
